2009 - 2010 Season





Head Coach - Ron Metz

Ron Metz is in his third year as the head coach for the Century girls basketball program. Ron Metz coached at Lemmon, S.D. for 11 years - four as an assistant and seven as head coach compiling a 108-51 record. The Lemmon girls won four district championships, four regional championships and made four consecutive trips to the Class A state tournament from 1996-99.

He also served as an assistant coach at Bismarck from 2002-06.
Metz is a 1983 graduate of Carson Public High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Dickinson State in 1988.



Junior Varsity Coach - Brad Jossart

Brad Jossart enjoys working with and developing the skills of young basketball players. He has coached YMCA development basketball, 4th-8th grade traveling basketball teams, and most recently, Century High School freshmen girls teams. Brad enjoys seeing his players develop into varsity athletes, and it is his hope that he can add to each player's development to reach their goals.

Brad and his wife, Robin, have three children: Brittany, Erika and Jordyn. All of their children play multiple sports, so they are kept busy getting from game to game, no matter what the season.



Sophomore A Coach - Brent Ruff

Brent graduated from Century High School in 1989. He coached basketball, volleyball, and track in Grand Forks (ND) from 1994-1997.  In 1997, Brent moved back to Bismarck where he took a position teaching History at Century High School.  In his first year in Bismarck, Brent coached girls and boys basketball at Wachter Middle School as well as the baseball program.  In the fall of 1998, Brent Ruff began coaching the sophomore girls basketball team at Century High School and has enjoyed watching the program grow through the years. 

Brent's sophomore teams have consistently done well at the West Region tournament at the season's end.  At the sophomore level, the athletes are taught to respect the game, their basic fundamental basketball skills are refined, and the athletes are prepared to play at the varsity level.

Brent and Serena have two sons, Brayden and Braxten.

Sophomore B Coach - Ryan Riehl

Ryan Riehl graduated from Flasher High School (ND) in 1994. He graduated from Dickinson State University in 1998 with a degree in Math Education. Ryan's first teaching position was at Century High School where he teaches Math. Ryan started coaching a boys basketball team at Wachter Middle School for his first four years in Bismarck. He then began coaching one of the sophomore girls basketball at Century High School, a position which he has held for the past six years.

Ryan is married to Trudy and they have future Patriots, Cambria and Lauren.



Freshman A Coach - Kevin Ziegler

Kevin Ziegler started out his coaching career in 1984 in Columbus (ND) as the head coach for the boys basketball and track programs and as the assistant coach for the girls basketball
program. Kevin moved to Towner (ND) in 1985 where he assisted with both the girls and boys basketball programs until 1990 when he moved to Wahpeton (ND). In Wahpeton, he assisted with the girls basketball program until 1993 and with the boys basketball and track programs until 2000. In 2000, Ziegler moved to Century High School in Bismarck where he assisted with the girls basketball program and the boys baseball program for the past seven years.

Kevin and his wife, Cecilia, are the proud parents of Nathaniel.



Freshman B Coach - Haley Haugen

Haley has been coaching for three seasons with the Patriots girls basketball program. Haley graduated from Century High School in 2003. She went to the University of Mary on soccer scholarship and graduated with bachelor of science in elementary education in 2008. Haley has been employed with Martin Luther School since 2008. She married Tyler Haugen in July 2008 and they have a dog named Izzy.
